Ready, Set - Retake!

What to do when you don’t pass on the first try

So you didn’t pass your ServSafe Managers Certification Exam on the first try and don’t know what your next steps are? We broke down all the options to get you back on the right track.

ServSafe allows you to retake the exam four times within a year in order to get your certification.

You can take the exam twice within a 30-day period. For example, if you take the exam at the beginning of the month and do not pass, you can take the exam again later in that same month.

Pro Tip: retaking the exam too close to the original date is not recommended. Try to allow yourself enough time to study or even take one of our courses to help you learn all the information.

If you don’t pass the second time, you can still take the exam again. However, you do have to wait 60 days from your last attempt to then give it another go.

If you still haven’t passed by your third attempt, you can retest one more time 60 days after your third attempt.

Unfortunately, if you do not pass the exam on your fourth try, you have to wait one full year from your first attempt date to try again.

Here’s an example of a possible retake timeline:

Attempt one: June 1st, Attempt two: June 2nd, Attempt Three: August 2nd, Attempt four: October 2nd, Attempt 5: June 1st of the following year.

Pro Tip: Scheduling a retake exam is quick and easy. Simply give us a call at (317) 673-4211 and we’ll take care of you.

Whether you rushed through the content or didn’t study at all, you can always retake the exam. However, there are a few things you should know before scheduling your retake exam.
