Important Progress In Joint Employer Debate

Since AH&LA launched its grassroots advocacy campaign, hoteliers across the nation have sent nearly 2,000 letters to their members of Congress urging them to support S. 2015/ H.R. 3459, the Protecting Local Business Opportunity Act. As a reminder, this bill would revert the National Labor Relations Board’s Browning-Ferris Industries decision that upends 30 years of labor law, and now makes owners and employers liable for employees that are not their own.

We are pleased to report that H.R. 3459 passed out of the U.S. House Education and the Workforce Committee last week and is awaiting consideration on the House floor. While getting this legislation through both chambers of Congress and signed by the President will be difficult, we believe this is an important step in raising awareness and illustrating to our elected officials the importance of the issue and the need for change.

To that end, AH&LA asks that hoteliers continue to pressure their members of Congress to defend the franchise model and support S. 2015/ H.R. 3459 by clicking here.
