San Francisco, CA (August 19, 2015) – NerdWallet, a consumer finance website, has conducted a study to find the best places in the United States to start a restaurant – and Fishers ranked eighth – the only Indiana city to place in the top 100.

To determine this ranking, NerdWallet examined 530 places in the US with populations of 50,000 or more and analyzed the following factors:

Restaurant Demand: 60% of total score
Operating Conditions: 40% of total score

Fishers is affordable, has strong schools and residents have easy access to nearby Indianapolis. This combination has helped the city lure young professionals, families and the businesses that cater to them. Nearly 35% of Fishers’ residents are 35-54 years old, a prime target market for restaurant owners. Those residents and visitors in Fishers have helped restaurants ring up over $100 million in annual sales. Other Indiana cities _ considered in this analysis include: Carmel (186th), South Bend (266th), Lafayette (270th), Elkhart (318th), Fort Wayne (329th), Bloomington (343rd), Anderson (366th), Muncie (475th), and Evansville (479th).
